Look Memorial Park, consisting of over one hundred and fifty acres, was a gift from Mrs. Fannie Burr Look in memory of her late husband. Mr. Look was the chief executive of the Prophylactic Brush Company in Florence from 1877 to 1911. The park was first opened to the public in 1930. Our mission is to provide quality recreational, leisure and educational experiences for families -residents and visitors so they can gather, celebrate and engage in activities that promote health, well-being, a sense of community and an appreciation for the natural environment. What is our community center? It’s simply put, a place that one can come for the dignity of a host of things that the lucky amongst us just don’t even notice as luxuries. These may be things that are just there in our lives; access to showers, laundry, wifi, power outlets, a comfy seat to relax. So many of our friends that are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity are currently living without these things, and it is our mission to make those everyday necessities accessible to our guests and create a space where people feel comfortable asking for they need.
